Adamawa Won’t Decide Yet

The governorship by-election slated for oct. 11 in Adamawa State will not hold, after all. The Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the by-election because it found that the former deputy governor, James Ngilari, did not resign properly after Governor Murtala Nyako’s impeachment on July 15. The court has ordered acting governor Ahmadu Umar Fintiri (who was speaker of the House under Nyako) to vacate office immediately.

Another judgement in a court case brought by former governor Nyako has been delayed.

Likely, Mr Ngilari will hold the office of governor until May 29, 2015.
