The rank of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants has swelled to seven. Abubakar Ismaila Isa Funtua has picked up the expression of interest and nomination forms.
Apart from Funtua, others seeking to clinch the party’s ticket for the 2015 general election include a former speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Bello Masari; Dr Usman Bugaji, also a former federal lawmaker; Senator Sadiq Yar’adua and Senator Kanti Bello.
Funtua will be taking a shot at the governorship for the second time. In 2011, he sought the office on the platform of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). The case ended in court.
An accountant by training, Funtua hopes to bring fresh perspective to governance as well as generational change.
