Wike Remains Rivers Gov Until…

Nyesom Wike will remain governor of Rivers State until the Supreme Court seals his fate.

The Court of Appeal affirmed that he was not duly elected on April 11 because of violations of the electoral law.

He is expected to file an appeal to the Supreme Court within 21 days.

If the Supreme Court still ruled against him, he would vacate office for the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, who would hold office until a rerun is conducted within 90 days.

Prognosis: A rerun is likely in April 2016. Wike of the PDP will square off with Dakuku Peterside of the APC. The rerun will still be marred by fraud and violence.
