SAS Is New PDP Chairman

Ali Modu Sheriff, popularly known as SAS (for Senator Ali Sheriff),who was governor of Borno State from 2003 to 2011, has been sworn in as national chairman of the PDP.

SAS ruled now troubled Borno State, Nigeria, as an ANPP chieftain. He crossed over to the PDP about 2014.

Many believe he was the originator of Boko Haram, a charge he denies. Even then, Boko Haram was not a violent sect during his tenure as governor.

The various caucuses of the PDP had nominated SAS for the position, subject to the approval of the party’s Board of Trustees and NEC.

Sheriff is taking over from Uche Secondus, who was interim chairman of the party.

He has been sworn into office, said PDP spokesperson Olisa Metuh on Tuesday.
