Egypt Stop Nigeria from 2017 AFCON

Nigeria will not play at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Gabon. They were defeated 0-1 on Tuesday, March 29, by the Pharaohs of Egypt. The match, which Nigeria needed to win in order to qualify, was played at the Borg El Arab stadium, Alexandria.

The Pharaohs had on March 25 equalised Nigeria (1-1) during a first leg in Kaduna. Both were in the Group G.

Nigeria missed the 2015 edition, just as the Pharaohs were missing in action at the last three editions.

The Egyptian who sank Nigeria is Ramadan Sohly, 19, who scored in the 64th minute after Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, had saved many goals.
