Nigerian Madness: 1,000km Pipelines from Agadem to Kaduna

A project championed by President Muhammadu Buhari is to run pipelines of crude oil from Agadem in Niger Republic to Kaduna in northern Nigeria — a distance of 1, 000 kilometers.

NNPC group managing director Dr Maikanti Baru has revealed that the intention is to buy crude from Niger and pump it to the Kaduna refinery because of militancy in the Niger Delta.

Many commentators have described the proposed project as ” madness” of high degree. Some who regard the move as a northern agenda — to prepare for the country’s split — have asked: From where will money needed to finance it come? The irony of Nigeria importing refined petroleum products is strange enough. Now the oil-rich nation wants to import crude as well.
