Nigerian Military Mistakenly Bombs Scores of IDPs, Aid Workers

Nigeria is in grief. The blood of innocents flowed freely in Borno State, Tuesday, as the Nigeria Air Force mistakenly bombed a civilian population including aid workers of the Red Cross, as it pursued Boko Haram terrorists.

The Nigerian authorities have admitted that over 50 got killed and scores wounded, but other authorities say over 100 innocents were killed.

Operation Lafiya Dole commander Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor said the victims were “possibly aid workers and civilians”, adding that the accident happened at Kala Balge area of Borno State.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sympathised with the families of the victims, pledging the federal government’s assistance in attending to “this regrettable operational mistake”.
