Two former military governors during the first period of military rule in Nigeria (1966—1979), who died last week, will receive state burial in their respective regions.
Retired Major-General Adeyinka Adebayo (March 9, 1928 –March 8, 2017) was governor of the old Western Region while retired Brigadier Samuel Ogbemudia (Sept. 17, 1932–March 8, 2017) was governor of the defunct Bendel State.
Ogbemudia’s family has announced that their patriarch would be buried on Friday, March 19, in Benin City, Edo State. No word yet from the Adebayos of Ekiti State.
