A media adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday claimed that the Nigerian leader hosted some APC governors and leaders in London.
Mr Femi Adesina, who had published an article a few days earlier castigating critics of his principal, had only a still photograph to show as evidence. No video or audio. Even the words allegedly uttered by Buhari were those reported by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and then reported by Adesina.
Buhari has been away for 78 days. Government officials who claimed they had visited him said he was “recuperating” fast and would return to the country “very soon”.
The published photo shot of Buhari with the APC chieftains on Sunday has yet to convince some critics who say he is incapacitated and can no longer function effectively as president. They request that he address Nigerians off the cuff.
Buhari may be flown home in a week or two to beat a 90-day limit prescribed by the Nigerian constitution for a president to stay away from his workplace.
