Thick smoke covered a part of the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Central Business District, Abuja, Tuesday evening.
The smoke was noticed about 6pm, and there were initial speculations that fire was gutting a part of the multi-storey building.
Fire fighters were said to have arrived to quench the fire.
Details of the incident were awaited until CBN’s director of corporate affairs Isaac Okoroafor issued a statement saying there was no fire but smoke oozing out from the generator room far away from CBN headquarters building. He added that engineers had brought the situation under control.
