Catholic Church to March on Abuja

MAY 22, 2018 – The Catholic faithful in Abuja archdiocese will next Tuesday stage a “peaceful march and prayer for life” in the heart of Nigeria’s capital city.

The diocese had postponed the protest march when other dioceses staged theirs a month ago after 19 worshippers including two priests were martyred in a church in Benue State.

The chancellor of Abuja diocese, Fr. Chris Bologo, said in a brief statement made available to Eyeway.ng on Monday:

Dear brothers,
In response to the Directive by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria that all Dioceses in Nigeria do something to show solidarity with the 19 martyrs recently killed in a church in Benue state, on the day of their burial, the Archdiocese is planning a “Peaceful March and Prayer for Life” on Tuesday, 22nd May, 2018. The March will begin with Mass at the National Christian Centre at 10am after which a Rosary procession will follow.

Other details will be announced next week.

All Catholic men and women and all Catholic groups from all parishes will be expected to come in their uniforms for this March so we can all register our public displeasure about the continuous killings all over our country.
